From Electronics and Communication Engineering to Quality Assurance: My Journey

Background

My journey into the field of Quality Assurance (QA) began with a foundation in electronics and communication engineering. I completed my BE from Pashchimanchal Campus, Pokhara, where I was always active and never missed an opportunity to learn and grow. In the final year of my engineering studies, I was involved in a startup with a team of six, working on a project called MeroHealth. Simultaneously, I undertook an internship at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA).

Transition to QA

During my internship and startup project, I realized that the pay and growth opportunities in the electronics field in Nepal were limited. However, my experience with MeroHealth sparked an interest in testing and managing resources. Despite the startup not making it to the market, this experience was pivotal in steering my career towards QA.

Starting at Cedargate Technologies

After completing my degree, I joined Cedargate Technologies as a trainee. My background in electronics provided me with a keen attention to detail, a skill essential for QA. In electronics, dealing with invisible electrons required a strong analytical mindset, which translated well into identifying and resolving software issues.

Although I started with low confidence, the supportive and knowledgeable team at Cedargate Technologies helped me build my skills and confidence. Over the next two years, I developed a deep understanding of software QA and discovered a passion for automation.

Moving to Naamche and Beyond

With a solid foundation in QA, I decided to switch domains and joined Naamche, a tech startup. This move allowed me to explore new challenges and continue growing professionally. At Naamche, I not only worked on QA but also took on the role of a mentor, guiding both tech and non-tech juniors interested in entering the QA field.

Reflection

Looking back, my journey from electronics and communication engineering to QA has been an incredible experience. The analytical skills and attention to detail honed during my engineering studies have been invaluable in my QA career. Each step, from my startup experience to my role at Cedargate Technologies and now at Naamche, has contributed to my growth and success in the field.

QA requires a unique blend of skills, including attention to detail, strong communication, and analytical thinking. My background in engineering provided a solid foundation, and the supportive environments at Cedargate and Naamche enabled me to thrive and pursue my passion for automation.

As I continue my journey, I am excited to keep learning, growing, and helping others discover the rewarding field of QA.
